Palmako Hedwig 4.5m x 3.3m Reverse Apex Log Cabin Garden Room (19mm)

The Palmako Hedwig (101163) is a reverse apex log cabin measuring 5.02m x 3.67m (15ft x 11ft) externally with a base footprint of 4.52m x 3.3m. That gives you 13.6m² of usable internal floor space enough for a proper home office setup or a comfortable garden room.

The 88mm Nordic spruce panel frame is clad with 19mm tongue and groove boards inside and out. Both the floor and roof use 19mm tongue and groove boards supported on treated foundation joists. No roof covering is supplied you must select one from the accessory options such as felt shingles or SBS torch-on felt.

Three double-glazed openings fill the interior with natural light two opening windows with metal water gutters plus a single door fitted with a glazed panel. All use 15mm real double-glazed glass with rubber and silicone seals. The cylinder lock secures the door. Cable routing for electrics is possible though a qualified electrician must carry out any wiring work.

With a 5-year warranty and fine-sawn cladding finish this is a well-built cabin. Delivered untreated treat immediately with a quality wood preservative and repeat annually to protect the timber.

The Palmako Hedwig uses an 88mm Nordic spruce panel frame thicker than many entry-level log cabins giving good structural rigidity. The 19mm tongue and groove boards are used on the walls, floor and roof for consistency. No additional insulation is factory-fitted. The reverse apex roof sheds water to the gable ends and reaches 2.97m at the ridge. No roof covering is supplied so you must add felt shingles, SBS felt or underlay felt separately. All three glazed openings use 15mm real double-glazed glass with rubber and silicone seals. Metal water gutters on the windows protect the timber below from water run-off.

A firm level base is required a concrete slab or compacted paving is recommended. No base is included with the building. A ProBASE 3x4.5m plastic base kit made from 100% recycled plastic is available as an optional extra. It interlocks onto level ground and allows ventilation and drainage beneath the floor to keep it dry.

This cabin is delivered flat packed. A full kit and instruction manual are supplied to guide assembly. Two or more people are recommended for handling the panels. Assembly time will vary depending on experience. All fixings are included. Internal wall cladding is available as an optional extra and must be fitted separately. No roof covering is included this must be ordered and fitted as a separate step.

Professional installation is available at an additional cost price is given on application. Base preparation and electrical work are not covered by the installation service. Solar lighting installation is also excluded. Contact the supplier directly to arrange.

No wiring or electrical components are included. Cables can be routed through the structure. All electrical work must be done by a qualified electrician in line with Part P of the Building Regulations. A solar lighting kit is available as an optional extra and uses a plug-and-play system requiring no hardwiring.

Treat all timber with a quality wood preservative immediately after assembly and repeat every year this is required to maintain the 5-year warranty. Clean glazing regularly and check rubber and silicone seals annually. A roof covering must be fitted and inspected each year. Clear debris from gutters and around the base to prevent moisture build-up.

At 13.6m² this cabin comfortably fits a desk, office chair, storage shelving and a small sofa. Two people could work in here without feeling cramped. It works well as a dedicated home office the three double-glazed openings bring in good natural light. The 2.03m eaves height gives a comfortable standing clearance throughout. It could also work as a hobby room, art studio or music room. A compact gym setup with a mat and free weights is feasible. It is not large enough for full gym equipment such as a treadmill alongside a desk.

Most garden buildings in England fall under permitted development if the eaves height is under 2.5m. This model has an eaves height of 2.03m which meets that threshold but the ridge reaches 2.97m which may require permission in some cases. Rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
