About Palmako Lea 5.8m x 4.5m Log Cabin Garden Office 44mm

The Palmako Lea is a 44mm log cabin garden office measuring 5.8m x 4.5m (19ft x 15ft) externally. SKU 101736BUN gives you 19.4m² of usable internal floor space enough for a proper home office setup with room to spare. The pent roof and chalet-cut design give it a clean, modern look that sits well in most gardens.

The walls are built from 44mm interlocking Nordic spruce logs with added wind braces for structural rigidity. The 19mm tongue and groove floor sits on treated foundation joists that lift it clear of the ground to improve airflow and guard against rot. The 19mm tongue and groove pent roof is sold without a covering as standard EPDM rubber membrane or SBS torch-on felt are available as upgrades. The timber is FSC® certified.

Fully glazed bifold doors span 2630mm wide x 1840mm tall and use 4-6-4mm toughened double glazing with rubber and silicone seals, a laminated frame and a stainless-steel sill. A cylinder lock is included. The glazing floods the interior with natural light and the sealed construction makes it usable all year round. Cable routing for electrics is possible during assembly.

This is a serious log cabin built from certified timber with a 5-year manufacturer's parts warranty. The 44mm wall thickness, double glazed bifold doors and solid T&G floor and roof make it a strong choice for year-round home working.

Technical Details

The Palmako Lea uses 44mm interlocking Nordic spruce logs with a chalet-cut profile and added wind braces for lateral strength. The log mass provides natural thermal buffering. The 19mm tongue and groove pent roof sits over the structure with a generous overhang but requires a separate roof covering EPDM rubber membrane is the best choice for a mono-pitch roof as it has no overlapping joints. The 19mm T&G floor is raised on treated joists to allow airflow and resist ground moisture. Bifold doors use 4-6-4mm toughened double glazing with rubber and silicone seals and a laminated frame to minimise heat loss at the opening. All timber is FSC® certified.

Materials & Construction

Walls are 44mm interlocking Nordic spruce logs. Floor and roof are 19mm tongue and groove timber boards. The floor sits on treated softwood foundation joists. Bifold doors use a laminated timber frame with a stainless-steel sill and 4-6-4mm toughened double glazed glass. No internal lining or composite materials are specified. All timber is FSC® certified.

Base & Foundation

The cabin must sit on a solid, level base such as a concrete slab or paving slabs. No base is included as standard. An optional plastic base kit is available separately it uses interlocking 500x500x50mm recycled plastic squares with a heavy-duty membrane and is recommended if you do not have an existing solid base. The floor itself is supplied as standard.

Assembly Guide

The cabin arrives flat packed with all components, a fixings kit and assembly instructions. Assembly is described as straightforward. No specific build time is stated on the product page. At least two people are recommended for handling the 44mm log sections safely. All fixings and instructions are included. Roof covering and base kit are not included and must be ordered separately.

Installation Service

A professional installation service is available check the product page for details on availability and lead times. Base preparation and electrical work are not covered by any installation service. Confirm what is and is not included before booking.

Electrics & Power

No wiring or electrical fittings are included. Cables can be routed during assembly. All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician to comply with UK regulations. Plan cable routes before the cabin is fully assembled.

Maintenance & Care

Apply a high-quality anti-fungal timber treatment on assembly and every year after that. This is required to protect the wood from rot and to keep the 5-year warranty valid. Clean glazing panels regularly. Check and clear debris from the roof and gutters. Inspect the roof covering annually for damage.

How You Could Use It

With 19.4m² of internal floor space this cabin comfortably fits two desks with room for storage and a meeting area. As a home office it handles two people working full time without feeling cramped. The 5.3m internal width also suits a garden gym with a bench, weights rack and floor mat. It works well as an art studio or music room. A sofa and shelving unit fit alongside a desk if you want a dual-purpose work and relaxation space. The bifold doors open the full front of the building which helps when moving in larger furniture or equipment.

Planning Permission

Most garden offices fall under permitted development in England if they sit within the garden of a house, are single storey and the eaves do not exceed 2.5m. This model has 2.0m eaves and a 2.49m ridge so it may qualify. Rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and do not apply to listed buildings or designated land. Always check with your local planning authority before you build.
